Project summary

Heartlog is a social app where people can share and read thoughts around gratitude, struggles, and other wellbeing topics. Set in a pond, a frog companion facilitates these messages and motivates participation.

What are this project's goals? How will you achieve them?

Heartlog's goal is to create a safe digital space that anyone can turn to when they need support. I also want to spread kindness and empathy through the world by designing interactions that facilitate pro-social behaviour. Heartlog will achieve these goals through being accessible and through strategic design choices, exploring AI as a tool for moderation and safety.

How will this funding be used?

This funding will go towards developing the prototype and paying for developer costs. More importantly, any funding received will help boost the competitiveness of my application for another grant that is due September 12.

Who is on your team? What's your track record on similar projects?

I am a new media artist that has explored creative technology and empathy. https://www.lovelyfutures.com/

What are the most likely causes and outcomes if this project fails?

Likely cause of failure will be inability to acquire users, or if the resources to sustain the project upon release are greater than the ones available.

What other funding are you or your project getting?

I am creating this with volunteers and am applying for other grants in my country.

Hi Edison! I enjoyed looking through your overall portfolio, and I think the concept of Heartlog is very cute. That said, I don't think it's a good fit for the EA Community Choice round, since Heartlog's primary beneficiaries aren't members of the EA community. As such, I'm removing it from the round for now.

I'm still happy to leave this page up and facilitate any donations people would like to send towards the development of Heartlog; it just won't be eligible for the quadratic match in the EA Community Choice round. Best of luck with your work!
