Goals

  • Build strong foundational expertise in AI governance, ethics, and risk analysis

  • Develop the ability to translate technical AI risks into policy-relevant frameworks

  • Transition into policy, research, or program roles focused on long-term risk reduction

How

  • Complete a full-time Master’s program with coursework on AI ethics, regulation, and societal impact

  • Engage in seminars, research projects, and policy-focused writing

  • Continue volunteer and committee work related to responsible AI and governance

How will this funding be used?

Funding will support:

  • Tuition for a one-year Master’s program- ($27,000)

  • Living costs during full-time study- ($20,000)

  • Study materials (books, software, research access)- ($3,000)

    Total= $50,000

This support allows me to focus fully on skill-building and preparation for long-term, high-impact work.

Who is on your team? What’s your track record on similar projects?

This is a solo project.

Track record

  • 5+ years in administrative, program coordination, and project support roles

  • Certified Scrum Master with experience in structured planning and delivery

  • Completed AI-focused training (ALX Africa AI Career Essentials; IBM Generative AI & Ethics)

  • Active volunteer with the AI Ethics and Integrity International Association (AIEI), including participation in its Legal Committee

  • Experience organizing webinars, trainings, and cross-team coordination

While I am early-career in AI governance specifically, I have a strong record of execution, reliability, and follow-through.

What are the most likely causes and outcomes if this project fails?

Causes

  • Insufficient funding to complete the program

  • Delays in transitioning into relevant policy or research roles

Outcomes

  • Slower accumulation of career capital in AI governance

  • Reduced near-term contribution to long-term risk reduction efforts

Even in failure, the skills and networks gained would still be partially transferable to related work in governance and program support.

How much money have you raised in the last 12 months, and from where?

$0 raised in the last 12 months.

I have applied to philanthropic funders for educational support but have not received funding yet.
